Not your average pumpkin!

by

These pumpkins have presence! Visually beautiful. Very easy to grow from seed. Encouragingly productive. Each pumpkin is large enough to make a statement as Fall decor, with texture and color that acts as the perfect foil to all the brighter oranges and golds of the season.
But their real value far outlasts holiday season and they truly shine as a food crop. They store perfectly all year long, no complicated requirements necessary, and their flesh is tender and surprisingly sweet. They taste almost like a melon! So they can become almost anything when it comes to cooking them. Chargrill with spices and lemon or lime for a side dish with zing. Go warm and subtle with garlic, marjoram and rosemary. Use as a sweet base for deserts with dark maple syrup. Their versatility is unending. Absolutely worth the space in my garden!

Amazing winter keeper.

Agree completely with other review. Easy to grow. Beautiful looking. Incredible orange flesh that is versatile and delicious in cooking. What is truly amazing is that with no special care at all it truly keeps all winter and into the spring. Skin color slowly fades from the blues to a lovely pale peachy salmon. Seeds remained viable some 8 years after I bought the original packet. It does have a long growing season. I have personally tried growing this pumpkin in various regions so for my fellow Canadians: grows fantastic from seed in BC, in Ottawa area give it a head start indoors, and in southern MB you need an indoor start and some serious luck getting exceptional weather and long season. Well worth the space in garden for those who want to maximize eating home grown food.
